SEIU California Endorses Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria for State Senate
MERCED, CA – Today, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California, officially endorsed Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria for State Senate in District 14. SEIU is the largest labor union in the state, representing over 700,000 workers across healthcare, public services, education, and in-home care.
SEIU endorsement marks yet another significant win for Soria’s Senate campaign and is a key addition to a powerhouse coalition of labor unions supporting her campaign. Since launching her campaign, Soria has quickly consolidated support from local and statewide labor organizations including:
AFSCME District Council 57
AFSCME Local 2703
ATU Local 1027
California State Council of Laborers
California Federation of Teachers
California Teachers Association

“Esmeralda Soria has proven herself to be a champion for working people,” said Arnulfo De La Cruz, President of SEIU Local 2015 and an SEIU California Executive Board Member. “She understands the challenges our members face every day, and she’s never been afraid to stand up for what’s right — from healthcare access to economic justice. We’re proud to stand with her in this campaign.”
Assemblymember Soria has a long track record of standing with working families, from supporting frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic, to expanding worker protections and championing legislation that invests in affordable housing, community health, and education. In the State Assembly and as a former Fresno City Councilmember, she has consistently fought for fair wages, expanded access to services, and a stronger voice for workers across the Central Valley.
