Democratic Party Delegates Deliver Overwhelming Support for Esmeralda Soria in State Senate District 14
Soria earns more than 92% of the vote in CA Democratic Party pre‑endorsement process making her a virtual lock to receive the official nod at the State Democratic Convention
MERCED, CA – Today, Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria announced that she received more than 92% of the vote in the California Democratic Party’s pre‑endorsement conference for State Senate District 14, demonstrating broad support from grassroots activists and party leaders across the Central Valley.
With over 100 delegates participating, Soria’s decisive margin positions her as the clear Democratic frontrunner in the race and places her on a strong path toward securing the official party endorsement at the State Democratic Party Convention next month.
In contrast, Soria’s opponent, Sanger City Councilmember Esmeralda Hurtado, received just over 3% of votes, underscoring the clear preference among Democratic delegates for Soria’s proven record and leadership.
“I’m deeply grateful to the delegates who participated in this process and placed their trust in our campaign,” said Assemblymember Soria. “This vote reflects the strength of the coalition we’re building and the shared belief that our district deserves experienced leadership that delivers results for the Valley.”
The CA Democratic Party pre‑endorsement process is a key milestone in the party’s endorsement timeline, allowing delegates to weigh in ahead of the formal endorsement vote at convention. Candidates who earn strong support in this phase traditionally enter the convention with significant momentum.
Soria’s overwhelming showing adds to a growing list of indicators that her campaign is consolidating support across Senate District 14, including endorsements from local elected officials, labor organizations, and statewide leaders.
“As we head into the next phase of this race, I’m focused on continuing to earn the trust of voters across Fresno, Merced, and Madera Counties,” Soria added. “There is important work ahead, and I’m ready to keep showing up for the people we serve.”
