California Teachers Association Endorses Esmeralda Soria for State Senate
CTA is the latest in a rapidly growing coalition of high profile labor organizations to back Soria for State
MERCED, CA – Today, Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria announced that she received the endorsement of the California Teachers Association (CTA). The endorsement highlights her strong support from educators across her district as well as backing from the state’s most influential labor unions.
Since launching her campaign, Soria has quickly consolidated support from local and statewide labor organizations. The California Teachers Association is the latest to join a growing coalition that includes:
AFSCME Local 2703
ATU Local 1027
California State Council of Laborers
California Federation of Teachers
Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association
Fresno, Madera, Kings & Tulare Counties Building and Construction Trades Council
Iron Workers Local 155
IBEW Local 100
Operating Engineers Local 3
Peace Officers Research Association of California
UA Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 442
United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals
Valley Building and Construction Trades Council of Stanislaus, Merced, Tuolumne, and Mariposa
The CTA’s endorsement underscores Soria’s deep-rooted connection to public education—as a former professor at Fresno City College, a product of California’s public schools, and an advocate who credits her success to the dedicated educators who inspired her throughout her life.
“I’m honored to have earned the support of the California Teachers Association,” said Soria. “Good schools and access to a good education is the key to opportunity. As the daughter of immigrant farmworkers, my education was a transformative force in my life. I understand how teachers can shape a student’s future.”
Soria’s record in the Assembly includes supporting significant investments in public education, expanding career technical education programs, and advocating for better wages and resources for teachers. Her commitment to education has earned her endorsements from numerous education leaders, local school trustees, and fellow educators across the Central Valley.
