United Nurses Associations of California Endorse Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria for State Senate District 14

Endorsement highlights Soria’s leadership in expanding rural healthcare access and nursing education

MERCED, CA – Today, Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria announced the endorsement of the United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP), further strengthening the healthcare community’s support of her campaign for State Senate District 14.

UNAC/UHCP represents over 32,000 registered nurses and healthcare professionals across California. Their endorsement reflects Soria’s unwavering commitment to protecting healthcare access, especially in underserved rural communities throughout the Central Valley.

Charmaine S. Morales, RN, President of UNAC/UHCP, said: “Esmeralda Soria is a proven advocate for healthcare workers and the communities we serve. She fought tirelessly to secure funding to reopen Madera Community Hospital, ensuring vital healthcare services were restored for thousands of rural residents. Her commitment to expanding nursing education programs at community colleges across California demonstrates her clear vision for strengthening our healthcare workforce. We’re proud to endorse Esmeralda for State Senate and look forward to working closely with her to protect and improve healthcare in our state.”

In the Assembly, Soria has prioritized increasing healthcare access and affordability. She played a critical role in securing emergency state funding to reopen Madera Community Hospital, a lifeline for many families in Madera County. Additionally, Soria has championed legislation to increase nursing education capacity at California community colleges, addressing the urgent statewide shortage of nurses and healthcare workers.

“It’s an honor to have the support of UNAC/UHCP,” said Soria. “Our nurses and healthcare professionals work tirelessly to keep Californians healthy, and they deserve leaders who will stand up for them. I remain committed to ensuring everyone in our Central Valley has access to quality healthcare and will continue to fight for investments that strengthen our healthcare workforce.”

The UNAC/UHCP endorsement adds to Soria’s growing coalition, including support from Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, numerous State Senators and Assemblymembers, local elected officials, educators, and labor groups across California.
