Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association Endorses Assemblymember Soria for State Senate
Local law enforcement backs Soria’s strong record on public safety and community partnership
MERCED, CA – Today, Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria announced the endorsement of the Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association (FDSA). The FDSA’s endorsement highlights Soria’s long-standing commitment to public safety, dating back to her service on the Fresno City Council and continuing through her leadership in the State Assembly.
“Esmeralda Soria has been a consistent and trusted partner for law enforcement—dating back to her time on the Fresno City Council and continuing through her work in the State Assembly,” said Eric Schmidt, President of the Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association. “She understands the challenges our deputies face and has always prioritized public safety and the well-being of our communities. We’re proud to endorse her campaign for State Senate and look forward to continuing our partnership.”
Soria has worked closely with law enforcement and first responders throughout her career, leading efforts to improve emergency response, invest in infrastructure, and secure resources for crime prevention and community safety. In the Assembly, she has supported legislation to improve 911 reliability in rural areas and ensure funding for local public safety agencies. She has also stood with law enforcement in supporting Proposition 36 to bring accountability to repeat retail theft offenders, authored legislation to crack down on organized retail crime and smash-and-grab thefts, and consistently backed policies that prioritize the safety of both residents and the officers who serve them.
“I’m incredibly proud to have the support of the Fresno Deputy Sheriff’s Association,” said Soria. “They put their lives on the line to protect our communities every day. I’ve always believed in working side-by-side with those who serve—and in the Senate, I’ll continue fighting for the tools and resources our public safety professionals need.”
The endorsement adds to the growing momentum behind Soria’s campaign, which has recently announced support from California Attorney General Rob Bonta, the California Latino Legislative Caucus, and dozens of local and state leaders.
