FRESNO, CA – Today, Fresno City Councilwoman and Fresno City College Adjunct Professor Esmeralda Soria announced that Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond endorsed her campaign. In announcing his support for Councilwoman Soria, Superintendent Thurmond had the following to say:

“Professor Esmeralda Soria knows the value of early childhood and secondary education. Esmeralda understands that investing in students is the key to success and achieving the California Dream. I look forward to working with her as a partner in Sacramento.”

Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond is the latest high profile leader to join a venerable whos who of statewide and Central Valley leaders united behind Soria. He now joins US Senator Alex Padilla, Controller Betty Yee, the California Democratic Party, and scores of local Central Valley elected officials and business leaders.

It consists of portions of Merced, Fresno, and Madera Counties and includes the cities of Fresno, Coalinga, Kerman, San Joaquin, Merced, Mendota, Dos Palos, Madera, Los Banos, Firebaugh, Huron, Atwater, Chowchilla, and Livingston.
